Katie Parrott chooses to describe herself as “fat”.

The curvy Instagram star, who boasts 23,800 followers, refuses to be apologetic about her size.

She told MamaMia : “For me, it's been an important journey to de-stigmatise fatness for myself.

“I am fat. That's not a bad word – it's a descriptive one, like saying someone is tall or short or thin or blonde.

“It's really important to remind people that fat is not a synonym for ugly, disgusting or gross.”

Katie says trolls target her because she presents herself as a “happy fat person” on the internet.

Even though Katie receives hate on Instagram at times, she refuses trolls to get in the way of her body confidence mission.

She’s determined to make the fashion industry more inclusive of all sizes.

The Tasmania-based influencer recently collaborated with BIG W and helped to promote its summer collection.

She posted plenty of swimwear snaps on Instagram, which she hashtags with positive messages like #FatGirlSummer and #EverybodyHasABeachBody.”

The Instagram star hopes her words will help others who are struggling to find relatable bodies on their social media feeds.

Katie added: “If seeing a normal fat body like mine means that just one teenage girl can feel equally as good about her body, then my job is done.”

The Instagrammer’s campaign is clearly having an impact.

Many leave her positive comments and have hailed her as an inspiration.

One responder recently gushed: “You look gorgeous.

“You inspire me to get into a bikini even with my wobbly bits. Thank you.”

Another said: “Thank you, I've never seen my body model a bikini before.

“I have that same fat roll under my bust and have never thought I would wear a bikini because most plus size models and influencers I have come across have flat tummies.

“But seeing you looking amazing in the first outfit makes me wanna walk outside in just my underwear right now.”

And a third added: “Seeing my body type/shape right there is giving me life!!”
